The true test of mission is not wheteher we proclaim, make disciples, ,or engage in social, economic, and political liberation, but whether we are capable of integrating all three in comprehensive and dynamic wisdom.

Orlando E. Costas, a prominent evangelical theologian, boldly agues that genuine commitment to mission can free the church from uncertainty and defeatism. He offers an extended definition of mission, emphasizing that it is not merely an aspect of church life, but ist heart, soul and hands. He outlines a program enriched with insights from recent theologies of mission, the vital experiences of the church in the Third World, and the impact of current conflicts over the definition and dimension of mission. These concepts are explained as the integrity of mission focuses on six key areas - preaching, disciple-making, mobilization, integral growth, liberation and celebration - wich must be fully understood if the church is to realize its missionary potential. Dr. Costas's arguments address today's social and historical context, yet are always firmly grounded in the Bible. He offers practical ideas to stimulate, promote, and support missiological programs. The test is filled with examples which clarigye problems and suggest solutions. The intefrity of mission cuts across denominational lines to offer a new vision for the future and challenge addressed to all concerned with the question of church growth and mission.
