This book is the result of the author's quest for a holistic evangelization - authentically biblical and contemporary in teh context of the ecumenical movement and world church. Professor Arias feels that Christians today need a new encounter with the gospel. He suggests that we recover the biblical perspective of "the kingdom" for the mission of the church today. As a result of his experiences in Latin America, where he served as a bishop in the Methodist Church in Bolivia, he has concluded that the biblical vision and theological foundation of the kingdom perspective provide a meeting point between evangelization and christian social ethics.
This Christ-centered evangelization aims to recover the original message of Jesus concerning the reign of God. The author's reflectiosn and suggestions reach beyonf the paralyzing effect of our own contradictory and worn-out motivations toward a new perception of the evangelistic task today. |
