The familiar words often used to express the ecumenical ideal - "that all may by one...that the world might believe" - come from a prayer of Jesus. Against the background of centuries of division among the churches, the modern ecumenical movement was born in prayer and continues to be realized in prayer.
Among the topics discussed here are the rich variety of traditions and practices of prayer which are brought together in the relationship between personal and ecumenical spiirtuality and the promise and risks of concrete and specific ecumenical prayer, particularly when our intercessions grow out of "political" situations. |
