With this book ve have the opportunity to look through the childrens' eyes, to relearn what we have forgotten, and attempt to see what they can so easily. It features writing done by students of the poor Cazucá neighborhood of the sprawling Bogota suburb of Soacha. Written by students from 10 to 16 years of age, the stories are published in their original Spanish, with English carefully translated to preserve the colloquial dialect. These stories offer a rare and haunting glimpse into the fears and hopes, the daily lives, the thoughts and dreams of these school children living in one of the western hemisphere's mos violent and vibrant cultures. Proceeds from this book will fund scholarships to enable these student writers to remain in school throughout their critical hish school years.
